Welcome! Today I will be discussing detox.

It’s a popular buzzword in the health and wellness scene and rightly so.

I will share tips on how you can support your body’s ability to detox better, get rid of feeling tired, sluggish and foggy and increase your overall energy by following a few simple steps. In order for your body to detox properly, it is vital that you practice regular self-care.

Let me start by saying this- your body is detoxing as you are reading this.

Our bodies are miracle machines and always do what is best for us but sometimes it can get a bit worn out and might need rest like a car that has been overused. We put our bodies through a lot on a day to day basis so it is natural for us to feel tired and drained. The modern world is extremely competitive and extremely fast-paced and unfortunately a toxic place to live.

Our body has an effective detoxing system in place which involves our liver, kidneys, gut, skin and lungs. However, in order for them to work effectively, these organs must be healthy.

So, what can you do? How can you ensure your body is getting rid of all the toxins it accumulates every day? Follow these tips on a regular basis.

  • Drink filtered water: Water does more than just satiate your thirst. It also regulates your body temperature, aids digestion and helps with nutrient absorption. Warm water is best for this as it will not lower your digestive fire ayurvedic. Start your day with a glass of warm lemon water for added health benefits.

  • Put plants around your home and office: Indoor plants don’t just look great as décor; they help to clean the air by getting rid of toxins and producing oxygen. Apart from this, they also boost mood and concentration, therefore, increasing our overall productivity.

  • Opt for organic produce: If going organic is a deal-breaker, at the very least follow the clean 15 and dirty 12 lists which is published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) citing vegetables and fruits that have the lowest and highest amounts of pesticides so you know which ones to avoid.

  • Manage stress: Practice deep breathing and meditation (choose whatever technique resonates with you) we are all unique and what fits one might not suit another.

  • Sweat more: This can be through high-intensity workouts, sauna, steam rooms or Turkish bath hammams. Many toxins are released through sweat so it’s important to schedule in a regular sweat session.

  • Ensure your skin is clean: I cannot stress the importance of this enough. If you have layers of dead skin covering your pores, toxins cannot be eliminated. A good method for complete body exfoliation is Turkish Hammam Bath- you can watch all the dead skin roll off you- a must-have experience.

  • Stress less: if you are constantly stressing and angry, according to Chinese medicine- your liver needs love and attention.

  • Eat clean: Treat your body like a temple. If you consider it sacred, you should take care of what you put into it. When you decide to treat your body, nutrition is a key factor. It helps in maintaining good physical and mental health so choose your food wisely.
